Shannon is a third generation Nevadan with deep roots in the community and Democratic politics. She is a passionate advocate of a variety of public and philanthropic endeavors, serving on the boards of the LVCC Library District, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Nevada, Family-to-Family Connections Las Vegas. She got her start politically right out of college working for Senator Dick Durbin's first senatorial campaign, interned in the Clinton White House and then-Senator Biden's office, and was Congresswoman Dina Titus' liaison for Veteran's Affairs, environmental, and education issues. During the 2008 cycle, she served as a surrogate for the vice-president's presidential campaign, and spoke on his behalf at the Nevada State Democratic Candidates Forum. That same year she was a graduate of Emerge Nevada's candidate training program. She is married to her husband Danny, and is the mother of eight year-old daughter, Molly.
